Job description:

With the recent dramatic increase of high throughput biological data in human complex diseases especially cardiovascular research field, Pullamsetti lab is looking for a talented post-doctoral researcher to work on cutting-edge projects employing different high-resolution techniques (single-cell multi-omics, RNA and chromatin accessibility, ChIP-Seq, etc.) to model and investigate epigenetic dynamics involved in pulmonary vascular remodeling and heart hypertrophy of pulmonary hypertension. The focus will be on different aspects of generation, curation, integration, and management of these new types of data. This will provide an unique opportunity for individuals with an interest in working with large-scale data sources in the field of lung and cardiovascular diseases that will yield valuable insights into human disease and its treatment. The labs of Pullamsetti are located in Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research, Bad Nauheim, and Justus Liebig University, Giessen, Germany and are embedded in the unique networks of Cardio Pulmonary Institute (CPI) and German Lung Center (DZL). The PostDoc position is funded by a project of the European Research Council (ERC 866051).

Your responsibilities
  • Analyzing large genomic datasets including single-cell multi-omics, and spatial omics.
  • Providing advice and support regarding statistical methods and biological interpretation of ongoing research results
  • Taking the lead in data processing, statistical analysis, interpretation, and development of projects
  • Assisting in the training and supervision of students
  • Scientific writing (including co-develop applications for fellowships and grants) and presenting results at internal meetings and international conferences
Your qualifications
  • Bioinformatician / data-scientist / statistician with a Ph.D. in a related field
  • Experience with biological data analysis and interpretation
  • Experience with python, R, and bash as well as knowledge of relevant biological tools and technologies
  • Experience with NGS and other Omics technologies
  • Excellent communication skills, required to work with colleagues from different disciplines
  • Proficient English language skills (both written and spoken)

If the prerequisites are met,all the open positions starts immediately. The salary is in accordance with the collective labour agreement of the State of Hessen (E 13 TV-H). The position is (initially) limited to three years, with a possibility of extension.
